Traveling Through India
Nothing can be compared to the experience of traveling through distant places and getting acquainted with new people and cultures. India is one such destination which has something to offer for all genres of people.
The Retrospective
If you love to get lost in the bygone era, Pondicherry and Madhya Pradesh are ideal places for you to visit. Madhya Pradesh is home to India's cultural heritage. You can find the relics of various religions such as Hinduism, Jainism, Islam and Buddhism over here. The Sanchi carvings, Bagh paintings and Bhimbetka caves are all well known for their historical heritage. You can also find spectacular meandering rivers, wildlife sanctuaries, dense forest and mountain ranges while visiting M.P. The tribal flavor is still intact within the state's Gonds, Bhils and Maria drummers.
Pondicherry is marked by its colonial past under the French, high walls and columns, wide promenades, well-maintained roads and sprawling courtyards. You can easily notice this place's French connection in its boulevards, bistros and rues. Its French cuisine, sun-kissed beaches and the popular Auroville shopping market fills your memories with its beautiful arcades and arches.
The Flamboyant
Calcutta, Goa and Rajasthan are absolutely delightful and romantic locations. Each place captures your senses and thoughts in an extremely deep way. Rajasthan and Calcutta are marked by an atmosphere of continuous celebration whereas Goa has an irreverent, bohemian charm.
Calcutta has been time and again associated with filth and squalor, yet something indefinable pervades this city's air. It has not been hasty in exchanging its colonial heritage with modernity. Though Calcutta's Posh Street and its people can rival any other metro in terms of modernity, yet it seems to have irresistibly hung on to the yesteryears. Its old dilapidated buildings, narrow streets and trams have become characteristic of Calcutta's soul. New market, Chinese market, roadside dhabas and gol guppas, the huge book market of College Street, Birla Planetarium, Tagore's house, Marble Palace, Victoria Memorial and Science City are few things which could be found in Calcutta capable enough of leaving a major impression on your minds.
Unlike the nostalgic ambience of Calcutta, Rajasthan is a place rich in folk-lore and tradition. Its vibrant architecture and colors proclaims about its interesting and colorful past. Every Rajasthani city has its own unique tale which makes the task of selecting the places to visit a difficult one. Jaipur, popular referred as “Pink City”, is well known for its Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, Observatory and Palace Museum whereas Jaisalmer is famous for its Havelis, camel rides over sand dunes, etc. For people interested in craft and art, Rajasthan has a lot to offer ranging from bazaars for picking up souvenirs, intricate carvings, metal work, gems, fabrics and jewelry to an extensive array of beads like Gota, Banarasi, Zardosi and Zari.
Goa has something special about it. The boundless enthusiasm for living which is found in Goa just makes you break free. This place's hedonistic abandon makes it all the more appealing. The Vagator and Anjna shacks are highly popular amongst people visiting this place, especially those who are capable of gulping ‘feni' without much of a trouble. Goa's sun-kissed, placid beaches and Goan market as well as cuisine has already gained worldwide recognition. Goa's culture and art is marked by numerous churches, temples, old houses which are reminiscent of the Portuguese culture and melodious tunes over mouth organ and guitar. Hence, Goa has something to offer for tourists seeking fun and excitement as well as those who are in search of peace and solitude. Eating and being merry seems to be the maxim followed by Goa.
India is indeed a place of extremely special tourist destinations.
