Amazing Cosmic Wonder Called “The Ayers”

Ayer's rock is an astonishing piece of art. First discovered by Ernest Giles, the rock is described as a cosmic wonder placed amongst a beautiful natural creation. Dead though it stands, it has caught the attraction of many visitors. Ernest Giles was the first Western man to witness the outstanding creation which seems to have come from some different world.

Ayer's Rock is a worship rock for the Aborigine. It stands there as a beautiful landmark worship place that has come from nowhere. People describe the emotions and the feelings with the place through the words. “We, the traditional land owners of Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park, are direct descendants of the beings who created our lands during the Tjukurpa (Creation Time). We have always been here.” Giles, who discovered the rock state it as ‘the remarkable pebble'; for the Aborigines. Indeed, it is an object of worship and a religious place for performing all the rituals and rites under the blessing of a divine astonishment.

Ayer's rock is located in Australia and is one of the most recognizable landmarks over there. It is a large sand stone rock structure located along the side of Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and the Great Barrier Reef. Wrongly acclaimed as the largest monolith of the world, it is a part of the larger geological structure. It has a height of 318 meters and a circumference of around 8 Kilometres.

Tourist Destination

The place attracts millions of tourists every year residing in different parts of the world. Temperature stays quite low and Uluru has witnessed snowfall some few years back. The temperature over here often goes below the freezing point.

The favourite pastime of most of the tourist out here is climbing the rock. Others often go for visiting the Cultural Center at the Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park. The visitors get to learn about local Anangu culture, their lifestyle and the likes. Some others simply stand and stare at the rock. The attraction of this place lies in the combination of photo collages, the history sound panels of the place, the local language and the audio video profiles.

Visitors having medical and heart problems should not climb the rock. Those having problem of sun burns should carry appropriate clothing for the same. While climbing, the visitors should climb the rock in a group. They should keep themselves close to the used pathways and wear comfortable clothing and footwear. They should also climb right during the middle of the day. However, Ayer's rock is not only meant for trekking and climbing. It is a place offering eternal divinity and peace of mind. It is a place that develops the aesthetic sense of individuals, makes them romantic and a nature loving person.
