Hong Kong: Visiting During the Period of Chinese New Year

If you have the thought in your mind that the market places of Hong Kong are overcrowded with the residents at the time of the beginning of the Chinese New Year, then this is a misconception in your mind. This is because most of the residents prefer to go to some other tourist destinations during the period of Chinese New Year, which takes place after the beginning of the lunar calendar. There has been only one exception sometimes back, when the famous Disneyland was so much crowded with the people, that it was closed for the one-day visitors to the city.

The same kind of situation can be seen in Paris in the month of August when the residents to go out and spend their holidays at a different tourist place vacate the city. Same is the case with Hong Kong when it becomes fairly easy to make reservations for rooms at the modern and well-facilitated hotels and restaurants of the city. There are a number of restaurants and hotels like this where you can easily find a room at reasonable charges. Moreover, a ban is put on the activities like smoking in the areas of hotels, bars and restaurants from the beginning of January itself. Thus, the place becomes suitable for all kind of tourists.

There are a number of hotels and restaurants to facilitate the tourists. There is a recently opened hotel known as Luxe Manor in the center of Tsim Sha Tsui. This new hotel is seen as the first hotel of Kowloon with unique designer boutique looks. The launch of this hotel was successful due to the commencement of the celebrations on 18 th February accompanied by the very famous Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade.

The hotel consists of as many as 153 deluxe as well as garden suites. These suites are well decorated with furniture from various parts and of varied styles. The furniture depicts the mix of Asian and European art. The hotel also aims at having the six suites based on different themes. These will be ready by the time the spring arrives.

There will be a suite based on icy theme and other with the touch of a Serengeti-style safari. The interior of the latter will take up the shape of a Bedouin tent. There are televisions in every room. The only thing missing is the melting clock of Dali.

A luxurious room, which generally costs around 1,800 Hong Kong dollars, that is, at one US dollar to that of 7.95 Hong Kong dollars, is available for 1,188 Hong Kong dollars until 5 th March. This includes a batter breakfast having no extra charge.

The recently opened restaurant of the Michelin three-star chef Pierre Gagnaire is a great place to see the delightful scene of the fireworks in the sky over the famous Victoria Harbor. On 19 th February, you can easily reserve a table at this restaurant known as Pierre. This restaurant is located on the 25th floor of the Mandarin Oriental, which is ready after a long period of repair and renovation. The rooms with double bed are charged at 2,699 Hong Kong dollars along with the breakfast at the very beginning of the New Year Festival. There are other hotels opened like the one by Nobuyuki Matsuhisa who has opened the first Asian Nobu for the first time. It has been opened at InterContinental that lies outside the Japan.

Thus, the Chinese New Year is the best time of the year to visit the city of Hong Kong.
