Rome is one of the most magnificent architectural wonders of this world. Its wondrous monumental glory and modernized lifestyle has attracted numerous tourists to the city. The place is as popular in daytime as in the night. It has narrow streets lined with mini bars, restaurants and little shops. The northern corner of the main square houses Piazza di Santa Maria, the pride of Trastevere. Luncheons at Roman restaurants will leave you wanting for more. Casetta de and Piazza de are some of the popular Roman eateries. You can walk your way through the foot of the Gianicolo hill. You can even view the statue of the nineteenth centurion Father of Italian political struggle.
- Basilica Church: St Peter's Basilica Church is a 1452 wonder, the construction took around 200 years to be completed. The Papal palace to the right side has been home to numerous Popes for many centuries. The Piazza can hold up to 300,000 people in the front. You can view Michelangelo's Pieta at the small chapel in the right side of the church. The artwork is kept behind bulletproof glass, after a mentally ill person supposedly attacked it. The lovely Dome designed in Baroque style and the tomb of St. Peter rests under it.
- Museums of Vatican City : you can reach Vatican City with help of public transport buses or Metro rail. The numerous museums are situated on Viale Vaticano. The atmosphere in the museums is heavenly and serene. You just have to walk fast to the Sistine Chapel before the crowd joins you. All major Biblical events from the Old Testament can be noted in the paintings on the ceiling. The last Judgment, the creation of Eve and Adam and the banishment from Eden garden; all these can be viewed from the ceiling. The picture gallery of Pinacoteca has 15 major galleries with pictures of Byzantine and early Renaissance period. It houses paintings of world famous painters like Da Vinci and Raphael. Museums such as art museums, Egyptian museum, and historical museum are also included in the list of museums. During tourist season, there is a long queue to enter the museum premises.
- Caracalla Baths : They were the greatest baths of ancient Roman culture. It is believed that one bath could accommodate up to 600 people at a time. But they are sadly in a ruinous state. But when any opera is set during summer time, the ruins add an eerie and stunning setting.
