Cities of Pasighat

Visit to Akashiganga: a sacred city which is situated

This is a sacred place situated near Lekhabli at around 100 kilometers from Pasighat. The nearest railway station to Akashinganga is 25 kilometers from Pasighat located at Silapathar in Assam. The association of the place is with the legendary Kalika Puran, which says that Sati's head fell down here when was divided into various pieces by Lord Vishnu. Akashinganga signifies a channel of water in the hill. A clear and giant view of the river Brahmputra van is obtained from this place.

Tour to Malinithan: this place is famous for its archaeological importance. It is located in Arunachal Pradesh, at the border of Arunachal-Assam in the area called Likabali. The legend says that Lord Krishna along with wife Rukmani and daughter, Bhismak took rest at this place while they were traveling to Dwarka from Bhismaknagar. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati warmly invited them as their guests. Krishna called Parvati as "Malini" and thus the place came to be known as Malinithan. It is located at an altitude of 60 m and it lies 1 kilometer from Likabali. It is easily accessible from Pasighat.

Pasighat is a tourist's place and the best time to visit it is between November to April, as during this time, the monsoon is over. The weather between Novembers to April becomes very pleasant and mild. Nights become cold. Thus you are advised to carry some woolens along while visiting Pasighat.

How to Reach Pasighat By Air: Dibrugarh (Mohanbari) is the nearest airport to Pasighat. Guwahati in Assam is also very close to Pasighat and thus its airport can be used by Pasighat. You can take a Pawan Hans flight that is a helicopter from Dibrugarh and Itanagar.

How to Reach Pasighat by Train/Rail: Murkong Selek is the nearest railway station to Pasighat which is located at a distance of 35 kilometers from Pasighat. You can take a bus or taxi from here to reach Pasighat.

Pasighat; Getting there by Road: Pasighat is also accessible by bus, taxis or private vehicles. From Guwahati, Itanagar or Lakhimpur, you can take a road which goes directly to Pasighat.
